Simple & sustainable. Meeting in homes and serving Jesus across the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor.

As we see it, it’s time to do church a bit differently here in North America. While there is nothing wrong with gathering in buildings on Sunday mornings, our sense is that there are a lot of folks out there who are truly interested in following Jesus of Nazareth, but not all that excited about going to church and sitting in a pew, watching a few gifted leaders lead church from a stage.

We believe that true biblically-based Christianity is all about everyone getting to play!

So, that’s why Vineyard at Home invites you to come join a church movement where Jesus is our leader, everybody is welcome, and all of us are invited to contribute to the work of God that’s going on all around us in our everyday lives.

ARE YOU READY FOR A CHANGE?

Since 2015, we’ve been “doing church” across the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids corridor in a creative, new way. Yet, interestingly enough, while meeting in homes seems a bit different to some, the idea is as old as the Bible itself. When you visit Vineyard at Home you’ll find a diverse group of Christ-followers meeting together to worship Jesus, openly discuss the Holy Scriptures, pray, and encourage one another, just as the New Testament tells us to do.

Did you know, by the way, that the New Testament has 59 different places where we are called to practice the “one-anothers” with one another?

So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. God always keeps His word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching. Hebrews 10: 22-25 (MsgB)

SO, WHAT DOES A VINEYARD AT HOME GATHERING LOOK LIKE?

While each one of our home church gatherings will have a unique personality and character of its own, each meeting will contain activities that model our 3-C approach to simple & sustainable Christian discipleship. Our goal is to slow down our lives so that we can better keep up with Jesus!

letter-communion with God: worship, silence, slow reading & listening of God’s word, meditation & reflection on Jesus, and waiting on the Holy Spirit!

letter-community with others: inter-active scripture study, story-telling, object lessons, sharing a meal, & fun, recreational activities!

letter-commission into our world: opportunities to share what God is doing in our lives, neighborhood activities, outreaches & more!
